Render Optimization Workflows using Mental Ray
Landon will de-mystify the complexities of Mental Ray and show how to reduce render times significantly. How to utilize maya’s feedback features to isolate where renders strain and what you can do to fix it. Understanding Mental Ray and renderers in general behooves both novice and expert alike. Landon aims to break down the walls of warfare between renderer preferences and educate which tool is best for which job. This presentation will also cover the Mental Images Architectural Shader and why it is faster than a lambert! Finally, the newest update to the Mental Ray renderer will be explored and demonstrated for it’s simplicity.

Instructor Bio:
Landon Ginn has spent his entire life developing an eye and heart for digital multimedia. Originally from San Antonio Texas, he traveled cities and states to experience life until he wound up attending and graduating at Full Sail University as Valedictorian. He has worked with companies like ESPN, Black Sun Entertainment, and even as a Full Sail Instructor. He currently is a Lighting and Rendering artist at Green Grass Studios in Dallas Texas. His passions lie in shader development, rendering, and compositing workflows. He has developed an encyclopedic knowledge base in Maya and Mental Ray and exercises both left and right brain to systematically develop creative and unique projects and workflows everyday.
