Sony Pictures Imageworks’ Bob Winter is currently serving as a CG supervisor on The Amazing Spider-man and is overseeing the visual effects work at the Imageworks’ studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Most recently, Winter served as a CG supervisor on  Green Lantern.   Under his supervision, his crew delivered the imagery in the films Lantern Training sequence and created many of the sets for the Guardian’s home planet of Oa.

Prior to Green Lantern, Winter served as CG supervisor on Alice in Wonderland. His team was responsible for delivering 300 shots in a six month period, including the entire tea party sequence.  Early in the project, Winter had the opportunity to get “back on the box” as a member of the look development team to create the hookah smoking caterpillar Absolem and some of the digital sets for the film.

Winter’s other CG supervisor credits include, Hancock, Spider-man 3 and Zathura. Previous to that role, Winter contributed his talents as a Technical Director on The Polar Express, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Stuart Little 2, Hollowman and Stuart Little. Starting as a member of the team who brought Stuart Little to life, Winter has made significant technical and creative advancement to the tools that have brought many of the company’s iconic digital characters to the big screen.  During his 15 year tenure at Imageworks, Winter has been successful in all phases of the visual effects process, from his first role as a Technical Assistant through his on set plate supervision for Spider-man 3.

Prior to joining Imageworks, Winter received his BS in Information Studies from Syracuse University.

Sony Pictures Imageworks’ Ken Maruyama is the Vice President of Recruiting and Academic Relations and Animation artist management .

In this role, Maruyama oversees the management of Imageworks’ animators, who have most recently animated films such as Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and soon to be released,  Smurfs: The Movie; Green Lantern, and Zoo Keeper. Imageworks’ artists have also worked on films such as the Academy Award® nominated film for Best Animated Feature, SURF’S UP, and the Academy Award® nominated film for Best Animated Feature, MONSTER HOUSE.

Maruyama also guides the Academic Relations program by building strong relationships with participating schools to nurture the next generations of digital talent.  Academic Relations emphasizes training standards developed from real-world production issues and helps member schools better prepare their graduates for potential employment both at Imageworks and the industry at large.

Prior to Imageworks, Maruyama was the Director of Digital Animation and Creature Development group at Industrial Light & Magic. This department was comprised of animators and artists who created and brought to life the digital creatures and characters featured in CASPER, DRAGONHEART, MEN IN BLACK, MARS ATTACKS!, THE LOST WORLD, JURASSIC PARK, and STARWARS: EPISODE I.  Maruyama also served as manager of special projects where he oversaw CG recruiting activities and was the principal organizer of the ILM Education Symposium.  He also founded ILM’s Diversity Outreach Program
Prior to ILM, Maruyama was the vice president and executive producer at Interface Video in Washington, D.C, where he managed the graphics and animation division. Interface was one of the few post-production facilities with in-house capabilities of producing 35mm motion control combined with 3D and 2D digital effects.

Maruyama has a master’s degree in graphic design from the University of California Los Angeles and is on the Board of Directors of the Visual Effects Society.
