Greg Punchatz

Greg Punchatz has been creating FX in various mediums for more than three decades.

He began his career working on films like Nightmare on Elm St 2 and Robocop doing Makeup Effects and Animatronics. He worked with legendary Makeup Effects giant Rick Baker on Coming to America, which was nominated for best make up at the Academy Awards that year.

In 1992, Greg next tackled the world of video games, creating the physical models that were used as many of the level boss characters for Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 64. He spent the next few years creating physical models for game companies across the globe.

Then he saw Jurassic Park. From that moment on, he knew that CG was his future. He was hired 20 years ago by Janimation, then a young upstart animation company in Dallas, quickly picking up the skills of computer animation and visual effects. He is currently Sr. Creative Director at Janimation.

Aside from 3D and compositing, he now spends his days doing everything from pitching projects to writing and directing animation and live action.  In his spare time he is always learning the next “new thing” and playing guitar very poorly.
